Welcome

We are the Austin ASTD chapter's CPLP Preparation study group.  A new cohort begins August 2012 (orientation) and will run through April 2013 (see schedule). The first session is an orientation, which allows potential participants to learn about the program. We think the CPLP curriculum provides valuable broad-based exposure to ASTD's nine areas of expertise and hope you will join our dynamic learning community!

What is our goal?

Our primary goal is to prepare interested parties to pass the CPLP exam.  In addition, we strive to help participants expand their knowledge of Designing Learning, Delivering Training, Improving Human Performance, Measuring and Evaluating, Facilitating Organizational Change, Managing the Learning Function, Coaching, Knowledge Management, and Career Planning and Talent Management. As facilitators, we commit to providing an interactive learning environment on a monthly basis to help explore and reinforce 9 competencies of the CPLP.

What do you need to participate?

Please notify Kristin Skalko at kristinskalko@gmail.com about your interest in participation.

In addition, you will need:

  • A set of the ASTD Learning System (can be ordered via the ASTD store athttp://store.astd.org/ ) a 9-book set corresponding to each module. Note: you may use other resources to prepare, but the group is based on the 9 modules. (If using a set published before 2009--see resources.)
  • Time and committment to read and self-study the modules before the meeting.
  • A willingness to participate in interactive exploration of the materials.
  • A $75 donation to Austin ASTD (non-profit) to offset costs of the study program.
  • Membership in Austin ASTD. (This study group is a member benefit.)

What is the CPLP™?

The Certified Professional in Learning and Performance™ (CPLP™) offered by the ASTD Certification Institute (CI) offers workplace learning and performance (WLP) professionals an opportunity to enhance credibility and prove value in an increasingly competitive marketplace. If you would like to learn more about the CPLP program, you can learn more at the ASTD website: http://www.astd.org/content/ASTDcertification/. For more information, check out the resources page.
