Welcome to our Wiki. We are the Austin ASTD chapter's CPLP Preparation SIG. Or in other words: We are the Austin chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Special Interest Group (SIG) for preparing for being a Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP).
Next session starts August 2009 to prepare for the May 2010 testing window.
What is our goal?
Our primary goal is to prepare interested parties to pass the CPLP exam. In addition, we strive to help participants expand their knowledge of Designing Learning, Delivering Training, Improving Human Performance, Measuring and Evaluating, Facilitating Organizational Change, Managing the Learning Function, Coaching, Knowledge Management, and Career Planning and Talent Management.
As facilitators, we commit to providing an interactive learning environment on a monthly basis to help explore and reinforce 9 competencies of the CPLP.

What you need to participate:
In addition, you will need:
- A set of the ASTD Learning System (can be ordered via the ASTD store at http://store.astd.org/ ) a 9-book set corresponding to each module. (there is a set owned by the chapter that can be loaned out to participants). Note: you may use other resources to prepare, but the group is based on the 9 modules.
- Time and committment to read and self-study the modules before the meeting.
- A willingness to participate in interactive exploration of the materials.
- To make a $75 donation to Austin ASTD (non-profit) to offset costs of the study program.

This is a great resource and study tool; and will really be benificial if we all participate on it....additionally this is a great tool to get more envolved in the elearning side of things, and online communication.
